Alice Marie Jacobs
Dr. Alice Marie Jacobs is the preident emerita of Danville Area Community College (DACC). She served as president of DACC from September 1999-August 2016. She was the second woman to hold the position in the college's 70-year history. Before coming to Danville, Jacobs served as president of Kaskaskia College in Centralia, Illinois; vice president of instruction and student development at Cape Fear Community College, Wilmington, North Carolina; dean of instruction at Rochester Community College, Rochester, Minnesota; and dean of occupational education and faculty member at Kellogg Community College, Battle Creek, Michigan. Following experience in business, she began her career in education as secretary to the president of Kellogg Community College. Jacobs received an associate’s degree from Louisburg College, North Carolina; bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Western Michigan University; and a Ph.D. from Michigan State University.
She currently serves as a board member for the Illinois Board of Higher Education, and is a past president of the Illinois Council of Community College Presidents and a past member of the Executive Committee of the American Association of Community Colleges Board of Directors.
