State Rep. Kelly Burke has served as a member of the Illinois General Assembly since 2011, where she serves the 36th District. Prior to becoming a state representative, she served as a member and as president for five years of the Evergreen Park Library Board where she initiated an extensive library renovation. From 2006 to 2011, Burke served on the staff of Saint Xavier University. She was part of a team that raised funds for several university programs and improvements, including campus building renovations, and greater student scholarship assistance. Prior to joining Saint Xavier University, Burke practiced law for 14 years, served as a law clerk to two circuit court judges, and as a legislative aide to former State Rep. Andrew J. McGann. Burke received her B.A. from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and her J.D. from the John Marshall Law School. She and her husband have three children and have lived in Evergreen Park for more than 20 years.
