Reynold F. Nesiba serves as a first-term State Senator in District 15 representing downtown and northern Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Originally from St. Paul, Nebraska, Dr. Nesiba received his B.A. in economics from the University of Denver (1989) and his M.A. (1991) and Ph.D. (1995) from the University of Notre Dame. Since 1995 he has been teaching at Augustana University in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, where he currently serves as Professor of Economics. In that role he has been an award winning teacher, productive scholar, and chair of various committees. His teaching highlights include leading or co-leading three spring break travel seminars to Nicaragua, five January-term courses to Australia, and three January-term courses to Thailand. His proudest political achievement is having worked with Steve Hickey, Steve Hildebrand, and many others on South Dakota’s Initiated Measure 21 that capped interest rates on payday, car title, and installment loans at 36%.
