The award recognized Ahrens for providing exemplary leadership, committing to the Compact’s principles, securing participation in the Compact’s programs and services, and increasing visibility for the organization.

Ahrens was nominated by fellow colleagues for her contribution to MHEC’s property insurance program – the Master Property Program (MPP).

She has been involved from the beginning of the property insurance program and served on the Leadership Committee since 1998 chairing the MPP Leadership Committee (2007-09), serving on the MPP Underwriting Subcommittee (since 2007), and chairing the annual Loss Control Workshop Planning Subcommittee (1998-2007, 2011-13).

The MPP is a nationwide program currently insuring over $105 billion in values at over 160 campuses. Coverage and service are the hallmarks of this property insurance program. Leadership Committee members are focused on a program that is tailored to higher education focusing on strategic growth, program stability, and creating value for all of the institutional participants.

"It is a true honor and privilege to receive the MHEC Outstanding Service Award,” said Ahrens.  I have had the wonderful opportunity to work with the MHEC Master Property Program for more than 20 years, and have enjoyed being a part of this program from its humble beginnings to the premier property program it is today.”
