The award recognized Kale for providing exemplary leadership, committing to the Compact’s principles, securing participation in the Compact’s programs and services, and increasing visibility for the organization.
Kale was nominated by fellow colleagues for her contribution to MHEC’s property insurance program – the Master Property Program (MPP).
“PJ’s leadership within the University of Illinois and her collaboration with the other institutions of the Illinois Public Higher Education Cooperative, combined with her advocacy for all institutional participants in MHEC’s property insurance program makes her a deserving recipient of the Outstanding Service Award,” said Larry Isaak, MHEC president. “We are pleased about the recognition she is receiving for her 14 years of dedicated, exemplary and outstanding service to this committee.”
She has been involved and served on the Master Property Program Leadership Committee since the University of Illinois joined the program in 2002. Since 2013, she has chaired the Underwriting and Marketing Subcommittee. Prior to this she chaired the MPP Finance and Audit Subcommittee from 2010-13, and also chaired the MPP Leadership Committee from 2005-07.
“She is a leader in taking the collaborative approach when working with other participating institutions as well as insurance industry professionals to achieve the goals of the program,” stated Thomas D. Clayton, director of insurance and risk management of Johnson County Community College and chair of MHEC’s MPP Leadership Committee.
The MPP is a nationwide program currently insuring over $92 billion in values at over 160 campuses. Coverage and service are the hallmarks of this property insurance program. Leadership Committee members are focused on a program that is tailored to higher education focusing on strategic growth, program stability, and creating value for all of the institutional participants.
“I have enjoyed working with all of the MHEC family over the years,” said Kale. “I feel privileged to have contributed to advancing the goals of the Master Property Program – the premiere property insurance program in the country for colleges and universities.”
