David C. Knes
Dr. David Knes, of Weldon Spring, Missouri, is the superintendent of Valley Park School District, serving in his 11th year of the district. He has spent a total of 29 years in education, including 27 years in administration. Prior to serving as superintendent, Dr. Knes served as assistant superintendent of the district for three years. He was also an administrator in the Rockwood School District and the Clayton School District at both the elementary and the secondary level, prior to joining the district.
Dr. Knes received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia and a master’s degree from the University of Missouri-St. Louis. He also holds a specialist degree and a doctorate of education from Saint Louis University. Dr. Knes was honored by the Missouri State Principals Association as the St. Louis area’s Principal of the Year. He was honored by the Missouri State Superintendent’s Association as the St. Louis area’s New Superintendent of the Year. Dr. Knes has served in leadership roles on a variety of boards including President of EducationPlus and president of the Voluntary Interdistrict Choice Corporation.
