In March 2018, Dr. Devinder Malhotra was named the chancellor of Minnesota State. Previously he served in leadership positions at two Minnesota State universities. He was interim president at Metropolitan State University (2014 to 2016), and provost and vice president for Academic Affairs at St. Cloud State University (2009 to 2014). Prior to coming to Minnesota, he served as dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Southern Maine (2005 to 2009) and as associate dean of the Buchtel College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Akron. A tenured professor of economics for more than three decades, he has served on the faculty of the University of Southern Maine and the University of Akron. He holds a bachelor’s degree and a master’s from the University of Delhi, and a doctorate from Kansas State University. He also completed the Management Development Program of the Harvard Institutes for Higher Education.
