MHEC’s cooperative contracts saved its member states $32.2 million last year alone.
To develop its contracts, MHEC conducts a competitive RFP process. By assuming responsibility for and acting on behalf of entities, MHEC eliminates the need for individual RFPs and vendor negotiations, while still allowing for tailoring of contracts to serve users’ needs. Institutions save valuable staff time and money that can be redirected toward other areas of need.
Contracts are open to all public and private not-for-profit higher education institutions within MHEC’s member states as well as within the member states of MHEC’s sister compacts:
- New England Board of Higher Education
- Southern Regional Education Board
- Western Interstate Commission for Higher Education
In addition, most of the technology contracts are available for use by K-12 districts and schools; cities, counties, local subdivisions; state government; and education-related non-profit organizations.
