Alexander C. McCormick is associate professor of educational leadership and policy studies at Indiana University Bloomington. He also directs the National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE). The largest survey of the undergraduate experience, NSSE assesses student participation in empirically supported effective educational practices. Through this work, McCormick aims to enrich the discourse about quality in higher education while enabling institutions to diagnose and improve undergraduate teaching and learning. His research interests center around assessment, accountability, and evidence-informed improvement in higher education. He holds a Ph.D. in education from Stanford University.
