- The Chronicle of Higher Education’s Faculty Salaries resource provides the most recent faculty and staff salary data for over 4,700 participating institutions. The salary data can be filtered by faculty rank (full, associate, assistant, instructor, and unraked faculty), institutional type, state, and gender. The Chronicle provides data over the past 10 years. Users should exercise caution when utilizing this tool for staff salaries since classification methods vary by institution.
Tuition and Fees
- The Washington Student Achievement Council’s National Tuition and Fee Report provides tuition and fees data for each state, including resident and nonresident tuition and fees for both undergraduate and graduate education separated by institutional type. The report also provides tuition and fees data over time.
The College Board’s Trends in College Pricing resource provides state data on tuition and fees by sector and residence as well as price data for state flagship universities. Tuition and fees data are reported over five and ten year intervals.

State Educational Policy Surveys
- This resource from the Education Commission of the States provides state-by-state descriptions of legislation for all education levels. Results can be filtered by month or current year, state, education level, and topic. Issue categories include accountability, assessment, attendance, choice, civic education, finance, governance, campus safety, curriculum, students and families, teaching quality, and transitions.
The National Conference of State Legislatures provides briefs and topic overviews on student loan debt, student access and success, institutional funding and affordability, tuition policies, workforce development, and other topics.
The National Center for Education Statistics provides descriptive data on state-level K-12 education reform efforts within the areas of accountability, assessment and standards, state support for school choice and other schooling options, student readiness and progress through school, and staff qualifications and development.
