About this Indicator
This indicator shows the median individual state income tax revenue generated from adults ages 25 and older who have a high school diploma compared to those who have a bachelor’s degree.
Data Source
Earnings: U.S. Census Bureau. American Community Survey one-year estimates: Median earnings in the past 12 months by sex by educational attainment for the population 25 years and over.
Tax rates: The Tax Foundation. State individual income tax rates.
Note. Estimates are unavailable for states without a state income tax. The estimate for 2020 is not reported due to data collection problems that occurred during the COVID-19 pandemic.
