Creative Commons Collaboration

The Creative Commons (CC) is an international nonprofit organization dedicated to helping build and sustain a thriving commons of shared knowledge and culture. Through workshops, consultations and their CC Certificate, CC helps community members develop open licensing expertise, and a deeper understanding of recommended practices for sharing.

MHEC and CC have a mutual goal to support U.S. higher education institutions’ effective use of OER funds and open licensing capacity. Specifically, we aim to ensure more educators and librarians at U.S. higher education institutions under the regional compacts - New England Board of Higher Education (NEBHE), Southern Regional Education Board (SREB), Western Interstate Commission for Higher Education (WICHE), and MHEC have the necessary open licensing expertise.

As part of a letter of intent between MHEC and CC, CC will offer any community member affiliated with U.S. higher education regional compacts (MHEC, NEBHE, SREB, and WICHE) 15% off the cost of CC Certificate online course. To access your 15% discount, please contact Jennryn Wetzler for the discount code; then register for a CC Certificate course in 2024, using the code.
